John 12:12-36

1. People, v. 12-13, 17-19

John 11:45-57

2. Promise, v. 14-16

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall speak peace to the nations; his rule shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. As for you also, because of the blood of my covenant with you, I will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.”
-Zechariah 9:9-12

Three things about the Messiah, the one who is to come...

a) righteous

“The greatest enemy to human souls is the self-righteous spirit which makes men look to themselves for salvation.”
- Charles Spurgeon

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”
-Titus 3:4-7

b) having salvation
c) humble

3. Provision, v. 20-36

Mental worship…

1. Do you confuse Gods patience with tolerance?
2. How was the Bible shaped your view of God?
3. Besides the Bible, what has most shaped your view of God?
4. What motivates you to do the right thing when nobody seems to
5. Is there any area of your life that feels as if God doesn’t have a plan?
