I Corinthians 15:1-11
The Consequence of the Resurrection

1. There is good news, v. 1

a) “received”-  to accept with the mind and incorporate into your life, to become a part of you.

“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
                 -John 4:13-14

b) “in which you stand”- to fix, establish or solidify; to make a person keep their place.

“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
               -Revelation 21:8

c) “by which you are being saved”- to deliver from the penalties of judgment

d) “hold fast”- to stay the course, consistent

2. All things are not equal, v. 3

“For I delivered to you as of first importance”-  means first in rank, honor, chief, principal, priority.

What is priority on this Easter Sunday…

a) Christ died for our sins

b) “was buried”

1) its a reminder of the costliness of sin
2) validates the resurrection
3) fulfilled Scripture

c) “that he was raised on the third day”

1) Genesis 1- creation
2) Genesis 22- Abraham
3) Exodus 19- covenant
4) Hosea 6- restoration
5) Jesus- mentions “the third day” twenty-one times in the Gospels

d) “in accordance with the Scriptures”

e) “that he appeared”

Mental worship…
Has the Gospel ever become a part of your life?
In what ways has the death of Christ affected your relationship with sin?
Do you think people are happier when they sin? If not, then why do you think people sin?
Do things like the “three day design pattern” give you hope that someone is actually in charge of the world?
Is there anything in your life that has become too high of a priority?
Anything that should be more of a priority?
