Acts 7:35-60
1. The Gospel makes you capable of knowing well, v. 35-43
a) God came to solve a problem not condemn people with problems, v. 35
b) Prophecy becomes a problem, v. 37
c) The church has been around a long time, v. 38.
d) The Bible has power- "living oracles” means "having vital power in itself and exerting the same upon the soul.”
The Ten Commandments
You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain...
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Honor your father and your mother...
You shall not murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.
e) It starts in the heart, v. 39
f) There is texture to God’s being, v. 42
2. The Gospel makes you capable of applying well, v. 44-53
3. The Gospel makes you capable of dying well, v. 51-60
“For while we are still in this tent, we groan, being burdened—not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.”
