Luke 18:9-14

-Psalm 51

“Oh, that men would learn to pray with less of language and more of meaning! What great things are packed away in this short petition! God, Mercy, Sin, the propitiation and forgiveness.” -Charles Spurgeon

-1 Peter 5:5

Pride,

preaches merit

separates by putting others down

destroys through is alienating self-service

turns its nose up at others

Humility,

pleads for compassion

identifies with others realizing we all have the same needs

opens doors with its power to sympathize with the struggle we all share

offers an open and up-lifted hand.

Reflection Questions

Do you have humility or pride in your prayer life?

Do you regularly mean what you pray or are you just spouting words to sound spiritual?

Does anything in your daily routine blind you to where you really stand with God?

Is the true condition of your heart, a prideful one or one of compassion and humility towards others?
