John 14:1-7

“Sadly, good intentions in a secure room after good food are far less attractive in a darkened garden with a hostile mob. At this point in his pilgrimage, Peter's intentions and self-assessment vastly outstrip his strength." - D.A. Carson

1. Relate to His Lordship v1

“The lordship of God points at the myriad of ways that God exercises his power and authority over creation and across human history. The sovereignty of God carries the connotation not only that God’s power is without limit, but that he has all proper authority to exercise that power as he sees fit. It is the reminder to us that God is the creator who calls everything into being by his Word, and who also calls the dead to life by that same Word. He is the Lord of heaven and earth. He is the beginning and the end. He is the Lord of Lords and King of Kings.” - Richard Lints

-John 14:15

2. Relate to His Accessibility v2-7 (6)

-John 3:16

“This love of God, then, is the source or cause of the atoning work of Christ. God does not love people because Christ died for them; Christ died for them because God loved them. The death of the Savior is not to be conceived as restoring in people something on the basis of which we might then win or merit God’s love. The sacrifice of Christ does not procure God’s affection, as if it were necessary, through his sufferings, to extract love from an otherwise stern, unwilling, reluctant deity. On the contrary, God’s love compels the death of Christ and is supremely manifested therein. In a word, the saving love of God is giving.” - Sam Storms

-Galatians 2:20

-Ephesians 5:1-2

-I John 4:9-10

III. Relate to God’s desire to be known by you. v 7
