Genesis 7:1, 8:1, 9:1

Objections to the Flood…

a) Now some say that the flood was limited.
b) Why would God punish all those innocent people?
c) Why wouldn’t God give those people a chance?

1. A Godward people, 7:1

“I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth.”
-John 17:15-19

“ Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.”
-Philippians 2:14-16

2. A remembered people, 8:1

“Why, O Lord, do you stand far away? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?”
-Psalm 10:1

“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day?”
-Psalm 13:1-2

* “Remember” here means “to fulfill a promise and act on behalf of somebody.”

3. A blessed people, 9:1
